CREDIT CARD FRAUD

Credit card fraud, just like any other fraud, is extremely exhausting and is not a very easy process for a victim to go through. Credit card fraud is a kind of fraud where a merchant is tricked into selling merchandise or rendering services, believing that the person’s credit card will pay for the goods or the services. It is also when a person uses a fake identity and credit card to purchase goods and services. Ultimately, the credit card will not pay for the goods or the services. There are ways that you can prevent credit card fraud.

It is recommended that merchants and owners of credit card keep a good eye on their card every time and anytime it is used. You should get it back as soon as possible if in a store; you should keep it in a secure place or always at sight when in use.

Also, you should be extremely careful to who you give you credit card. Giving out credit card numbers over the phone, in an e-mail or in careless writing is the main cause of credit card fraud. You should never give out your credit card number if you did not initiate the phone call. Only illegitimate companies will make a phone call to you and ask for credit card numbers over the phone.

Credit card fraud is also very common with fake emails. You should never respond to emails that ask you to send your credit card number to them. You should never go to websites that ask you to come to their website and verify your personal credit card information by entering extremely sensitive information.

You should also never give your credit card information to a website that is not a secure site. Most unsecured sites are a haven for hackers, thus, credit card fraud.

It is recommended that you sign your credit cards as soon as you get them. This is a step closer in preventing credit card fraud.
