GAS CASH BACK CREDIT CARDS

With the US gas prices slowly climbing back up, applying for a gas card  might not be a bad idea at all. Most gas cards will give from 1 to 5 percent off every gas purchase and general automobile purchases; these are the little amounts that go a long way. Gas cards can be found at grocery stores that also have gas pumps, such as Wal-Mart, Kroger, etc. Other gas cards can be applied for online, at a financial institution, such as banks, or by invitation and direct mail offers.

Gas cards are not recommended for individuals carrying over a balance for it will cancel any benefits that gas cashback card may offer. For people with excellent credit, the APR on gas cards might seem a little bit higher than with regular credit cards, especially on gas rebate cards. However if one pays off the balance every month, the interest rate should be of a little concern.

As of the release date for this article (Dec. 24, 2006) the number one choice for customers in need of a gas card is the Discover Gas Card. This gas card offers up to 5% cash back rewards, no annual fee, 1% back on general purchases, 0% introductory rate for 12 months, and a variable 10.99% APR.* Cash backs can also be doubled when the card is used with participating merchants or cash back rewards are used to buy gift cards or certificated from participating locations.

The second in line for gas cards is Chase Perfect Card. This card beats Discover by offering a 6% cash back bonus. However, it is still a 0% introductory rate for 12 months, 1% back on other purchases with no annual fee, but 3% back on gas purchases after the first 6 months.

The Discover Gas Card and the Chase Perfect Card requires good credit to be considered for the program.

* The offers mentioned in the article tend to change very often. Fair attempts are made to maintain all information current. However we advice to check the current information for each offer before applying for a credit card.
